The series begins with one of the undisputed choral works of the 20th century—Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem. Written in memory of his father and premiered on November 2, 1947, Duruflé’s otherworldly Requiem is based entirely on the Gregorian chants from the Mass for the Dead. The French composer and organist was notoriously self-critical and spent much of his life reworking his relatively small, yet highly finessed compositional output. The Choirs of Trinity Church will offer Duruflé’s Requiem during a Eucharist service commemorating All Souls.

free-will offering.
