JANET STONE

soprano

Janet Stone, soprano, is a Boston-based performer who is gaining musical ground within the city and beyond. Recent solo performances include J.S. Bach's Magnificat and Benjamin Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia. She is a singer on staff and frequent soloist at Trinity Church, Copley Square, recently performing Sergei Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil, G.F. Handel's Messiah, and Gabriel Faure's Requiem  under directors Richard Webster and Colin Lynch. Janet also sings with the La Farge Ensemble, Cherry Street Singers, and has performed in house concerts hosted through the online social media platform, Groupmuse. She is an avid fan of American contemporary music, recently performing a recital in collaboration with Chicago-based composer Joseph Meland. Upcoming engagements include J.S. Bach's Cantata 147: Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben and Benjamin Britten's The Company of Heaven. In addition to her performance engagements, Janet also works as the music administrator of Trinity Church, managing 120 volunteer choir members, and producing the Trinity Concert Series. Janet grew up singing at Grace Episcopal Church and performing in the Madison Opera Chorus in Madison, Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelors of Music degree at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Previous teachers include: Jane Ferris, Margie Marrs, Tara Warfield, and Jessica Timman. She is currently studying with Sonja Tengblad.
